Description
The Health Administration program is designed to enhance your expertise and advance your career in healthcare leadership. This four-year, stackable degree program builds on existing healthcare knowledge and credentials, providing a comprehensive educational experience through a blend of general education courses and specialized health administration coursework.
The curriculum offers a diverse range of learning formats, integrating didactic instruction with hands-on laboratory work and real-world clinical experiences to ensure a well-rounded education. In alignment with BSC's mission, the program provides an accessible, flexible, and high-quality educational experience, supported by valuable public-private partnerships. It also addresses critical needs identified by healthcare partners, emphasizing leadership, public health, and Medicaid/Medicare education to equip students with essential skills and knowledge.
Preparation
A strong science and communication background is recommended with an Associate of Applied Science degree in a healthcare related field.

Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Administration will be prepared for many career opportunities in the healthcare sector.
This degree opens doors to roles such as healthcare administrator, where graduates oversee operations in hospitals, clinics, or nursing homes, ensuring efficient and compliant management. Graduates may pursue positions as medical office managers, coordinating the daily operations of medical practices, or as health services coordinators, managing and implementing health programs.
Opportunities also include roles as health information managers, where patient data is maintained to ensure regulatory compliance, or as healthcare consultants, providing strategic advice to enhance organizational effectiveness.
Additionally, graduates can step into public health administration or patient services coordination roles, working to improve community health and patient experiences. With a focus on leadership, public health, and Medicaid/Medicare education, this degree prepares students for impactful careers in various facets of healthcare management and administration.

Program Admission
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Administration is designed for qualified students to be directly admitted.
In addition to being admitted to BSC, students must meet program requirements based on their status:
First-Year Applicant
A student who has no prior postsecondary experience or who has earned less than 24 semester credits or 36 quarter credits. Students who earned college credits while still in high school are considered first-year applicants.
Students must apply and be accepted at BSC as degree seeking, in addition to the following requirements:
- Minimum high school cumulative grade point average – 2.00+
- Completion of high school core course requirements:
- English: four units
- Mathematics: Algebra I or above – three units
- Laboratory Science: three units
- Social Science: three units
Notes:
- Successful completion of a GED exam meets the qualifications for both #1 and #2 above.
- Applicants 25 years of age or older on the first day of class are exempt from the high school core requirements.
- Students who meet requirements #1, and #2 will be admitted into the pre-Health Administration Bachelor of Applied Science program and will also be required to declare a qualified pre-health related Associate in Applied Science program.
- Students who don’t meet requirements #1 and #2 will begin their college career in a qualified pre-health related Associate in Applied Science program.
- After the completion of one semester of BSC enrollment with a 2.00 cumulative GPA, a student may request a program change into the pre-Health Administration Bachelor of Applied Science program along with a pre-health related Associate in Applied Science program.
- Declaring a pre-health related Associate in Applied Science program does not guarantee admission into the full program. The full Associate in Applied Science health related program is limited enrollment and requires a separate application and acceptance process.
Transfer Applicant
A student who has earned 24 semester credits or 36 quarter credits from an accredited post-secondary institution.
Students must apply and be accepted at BSC as degree seeking, in addition to the following requirements:
- Cumulative grade point average – 2.00+ on all accredited post-secondary institutions attended.
- The student must not be on dismissed or suspension status at their most recently attended institution.
- Earned an Associate in Applied Science or Bachelors in approved health related program.
Notes:
- Students who meet qualifications #1, #2 and #3 will be admitted directly into the Health Administration Bachelor of Applied Science program.
- Students who meet requirements #1, and #2 will be admitted into the pre-Health Administration Bachelor of Applied Science program and will also be required to declare a qualified pre-health related Associate in Applied Science program.
- Students who don’t meet requirements #1 and #2 will begin their college career in a qualified pre-health related Associate in Applied Science program.
- After the completion of one semester of BSC enrollment with a 2.00 cumulative GPA, a student may request a program change into the pre-Health Administration Bachelor of Applied Science program along with a pre-health related Associate in Applied Science program.
- Declaring a pre-health related Associate in Applied Science program does not guarantee admission into the full program. The full Associate in Applied Science health related program is limited enrollment and requires a separate application and acceptance process.
Returning Applicant
Returning to BSC following a break in enrollment or graduation.
Students must apply and be accepted at BSC as degree seeking, in addition to the following requirements:
- Cumulative grade point average – 2.00+ on credits from all prior accredited post-secondary institutions attended, including BSC.
- The student must not be on dismissed or suspension status.
- Earned an Associate in Applied Science or Bachelors in approved health related program.

- Students who meet qualifications #1, #2 and #3 will be admitted directly into the Health Administration Bachelor of Applied Science program.
- Students who meet requirements #1, and #2 will be admitted into the pre-Health Administration Bachelor of Applied Science program and will also be required to declare a qualified pre-health related Associate in Applied Science program.

Program Learning Outcomes
Upon graduation, Health Administration students will demonstrate:
- Appropriate professional behaviors and leadership skills for careers in health care.
- Skills to collaborate and consult as a strategic member of the healthcare team.
- An understanding of the United States health care system and health information literacy.
- The ability to evaluate the scientific literature, understand and synthesize relevant information for it, and be able to convey this information both orally and in writing.
