CSCI 101, CIS 147 or courses transferred in from another NDUS Institution that are listed as both general education and digital literacy may satisfy both requirements upon successful completion.

A minimum 2.0 GPA must be earned in all required program and general education courses and the cumulative 2.0 GPA must be maintained in order to continue in the program. A student handbook will be issued to each student with specific program requirements. Requirements include a criminal background check which will be performed prior to the start of the OR Clinical Internship course (SRGT 280).
 

Prior to beginning Semester VI, students must have successfully completed all coursework with a "C" or greater or "T" (test credit) or "S" (satisfactory) for the AAS in Surgical Technology. Students will not be allowed to participate in the final course (SRGT 280) until all other coursework has been completed with a 2.0 or above GPA.

Students may choose to attend a summer session to complete some of the general education requirements for this program. Entrance into Anatomy & Physiology I and lab (BIOL 220/BIOL 220L) may require completion of Concepts of Anatomy & Physiology and lab (BIOL 115/BIOL 115L), or successfully meeting requirements set forth by the Biology Department.

A certain level of English proficiency is necessary for academic success in surgical technology as well as for patient safety. In addition to general college English proficiency requirements, all applicants for whom English is not their native language (including International and/or U.S. residents) and who have not attended 4 years of U.S. high school and achieved a HS GPA of 3.0 or higher must meet additional language proficiency requirements for admission to the Surgical Technology Program.

To be considered for admission to the Surgical Technology Program, English as a second language (ESL) applicants must achieve minimum scores on the TOEFL internet based test (TOEFL iBT) of:
