Description
This certificate is part of the AAS in Arts Entrepreneurship & Management. This certificate will cover principles of business, public speaking, entrepreneurship, arts management, principles of information security, and a capstone. It is designed to help those students who have an interest in art learn the business side of the field.
Preparation
Students need to have an interest in art and business or be interested in managing something in the arts discipline.
Requirements
Students will study different aspects of business to help them understand their relevance and application to the art field. Students will also complete a capstone course. Students who complete the curriculum requirements receive a Program Certificate in Arts Business, which can be stacked toward an associate's degree.
Career Opportunities
Many artists and related workers are self-employed, so understanding the business angle can help them succeed. With a wide variety of options, artists may choose to work in advertising and related services, publishing, specialized design services, computer system design, the motion picture and video industry, and more. Competition is keen for both salaried jobs and freelance work.

Additional Information
BSC has partnerships with community arts organizations, including Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra, Bismarck-Mandan Civic Chorus, and Capital Shakespeare. Through these partnerships, BSC students begin making connections with the community and establishing outside relationships well before they finish their program of study.
