Program Description
Bismarck State College is taking a leadership role in providing students and community with the necessary skills to use Spanish in the workforce. These skills can be applied to any career in fields such as business, criminal justice, health care, social work, psychology, economics, political science, graphic design, and more. Coursework includes two semester sequences in both beginning and intermediate Spanish. No previous experience is required for entrance into a Spanish class. Those with previous experience may be able to begin at any point in the sequence and earn credit for their prior knowledge, contingent upon taking the Spanish placement test in Schafer Hall 205A. Appointments to take the placement test (no charge) can be made by calling the Testing Center at 701-224-5658.
As a student, you will be able to take Spanish courses either on-campus or online. We pride ourselves in offering quality, comprehensive instruction so that you will feel confident in your ability to use what you learn in any field of study. In addition, students are afforded opportunities in the community to use their language skills in real-life situations. These experiences prove to be an enlightening, fun, and beneficial component to student development. In short, you’ll have the opportunity to learn, not only from textbooks, but also through “hands-on” practice.
Our classes are limited in size to accommodate the much needed one-on-one instruction necessary for student success, but they are also large enough for you to achieve and develop networking with a wide variety of students from different backgrounds, thus improving your resume and career opportunities.
